Born from a lifelong love of trees and a childhood dream of building portable treehouses, Tentsile creates award-winning Tree Tents, Giant Hammocks and suspended camping shelters that let people camp above the ground, in comfort, with friends and family.

Tentsile was founded by architect Alex Shirley-Smith, whose background in sustainable living and low-impact shelter design shaped the brand from the beginning. The idea was simple but original: to combine the comfort of a hammock with the protection and shared experience of a tent. The result was a new kind of outdoor shelter, suspended between three trees using a patented three-point anchoring system.

Camping above all changes the whole outdoor experience. It gives families, friends and adventurers a new way to connect with nature, while also creating a practical solution for places where traditional tents are uncomfortable or difficult to pitch. From gardens and family campsites to forests, festivals and backcountry trips, Tentsile brings a sense of imagination and fun to outdoor living.

Many Tentsile products are designed to be connected, extended or stacked, allowing campers to create multi-level camps and shared spaces among the trees. This makes the experience not only more comfortable, but more social. Tentsile is about bringing people together outdoors, whether that means a weekend with children, a festival setup with friends, or a wild camping adventure.

Durability is central to the brand. Tentsile products are built to last, using strong materials, tensioned bases, weather protection and carefully engineered components made for repeated use over many seasons. The aim is to create outdoor gear that is trusted, repairable where possible, and kept in use for years rather than treated as disposable.

Tentsile’s mission is also rooted in tree protection. The brand was founded on the belief that the more people spend time among trees, the more likely they are to value and protect them. Through tree-planting partnerships, Tentsile has supported large-scale reforestation and has helped plant more than one million trees.

At its heart, Tentsile offers an elevated camping experience: above the ground, among the trees, and closer to the natural world.
